A Mother’s Perspective on Natural Asthma Relief
I began working for Dr. Bickmeyer in April of 2002. That May, I received a call from my son’s school asking me to come right away because he was having an asthma attack. Alex is my second child, and he was 7 years old. I was leaving work, and Dr. Bickmeyer recommended that I bring him in for an adjustment. I thought to myself, an adjustment? Why? He told me that it would help with Alex’s Asthma attacks. It wouldn’t cure it, but it could help eliminate so many attacks. I left thinking, why would I have my son see a chiropractor for asthma?
I arrived at school to find my son sitting up in a chair grabbing his chest whispering, “Sorry Mom, I can’t breathe.” Tears came to my eyes, and I realized there must be some other way to cope with these attacks. My son was on steroids, which made him so irritable and hard to live with at times. He used his nebulizer in the morning, at lunch, and in the evening and one more treatment right before bed. He was also on Singulair. His coughs were rough. It made my chest hurt just hearing him cough.
I came to work the next day, and I asked Dr. Bickmeyer if adjustments would really help Alex with his Asthma. He showed me a chart on his wall that pinpointed what parts help relieve those attacks. To this day, I still don’t understand how it works – but I do know – it has been over a year, and we have had only two, what I call, croupy coughs. This seems to be flared with the season change. Usually, around May and October.
We have already passed October. The first October we were not in the hospital since he was three years old. We just passed May, and not one attack or ‘croupy cough’. Alex is eight years old now and is continuing his adjustments and he is doing well. We no longer take steroids. We are no longer using his nebulizer or his inhaler. We have put them away in the closet (whereas before- they became a part of the furniture in our living room.) Alex is doing well, and he is only seeing Dr. Bickmeyer every two weeks or so. If I see that Alex is a bit croupy, I get him in here for an adjustment right away, and things seem to settle back to normal again.
Alex is my little testimony to Chiropractic care for Asthma. It works, and he is proof!
Thank you, Dr. Bickmeyer, for showing us that there is an alternative to drugs and steroids. Continue to keep my son breathing freely. So, from my heart – I Thank You!
Not just your employee, but your friend,

Discovering a Pain-Free and Moveable Neck
I never knew how much stiffness and pain I was experiencing in my neck until I visited Dr.B. Now I know what it feels like to have a pain free, moveable neck. I’m so pleased.

A Gratifying and Life-Changing Experience
My family sees Dr. B; my husband, my daughter-in-law, my daughter and my son. Yet still it took me three years to talk myself into trying again. You see I had been hurt once before. I suffer from lower back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, migraine headaches.
As I said it took me a while to get the nerve to try again. And to my surprise it has been the most wonderful surprise and gratifying experience in my life. The benefits are fantastic and overwhelming. Inside out and outside in, I feel so totally different. I haven’t felt this good in many, many years. Dr. B will have a hard time getting rid of me. Everyone I talk to knows about Dr.B and my experience.

Compassionate Care After a Car Accident
I was in a car accident, which rear ended me and my body. Talk about as in simplest terms a mass. I was referred to RiverTowne Family Chiropractic by several pleased patients who have been coming for years. From the accident, my body creaked like a 200-year-old house! As I began treatment, I noticed an enthusiasm, a passion, and a positive reinforcement, which I don’t feel like I’d rarely seen in a medical facility. I know this because I have several health issues and see many doctors and this kind of atmosphere is not commonplace. I am very comfortable with the ability and knowledge of everyone. This includes Dr Bickmeyer, Dr. Mikos, and Michael and Ashley. I so appreciate their dedication to improve my quality of life, and their ability to never give up sound attitude as some doctors will surrender with words like this. There is nothing more I can do for you. Anyone can find another doctor or doctors, even a good one. It’s not after I can say. I found a great one! Also, my overall health has improved because of the care at RiverTowne Family Chiropractic.

From Icy Fall to Active Grandmother
In January of this year, we moved our office next door to RiverTowne Family Chiropractic, thinking that was a great place to move our Podiatry office. Our practice has a lot of older patients with foot and back problems we might need to refer to the chiropractor. Well to make a long story short, my husband and I were walking on the icy parking lot right in front of the office when I fell. I went down so fast and hit my left elbow and hurt my lower back. Thinking that I would be alright, I started working. By the end of the morning my elbow swelling and my back was killing me. I didn’t know where to go, ER, my medical doctor or my orthopedic or next door to Doctor Bickmeyer. I have been to another chiropractor in the past for my back and it would get better, but if I strain the back it would go back to square one so I just figured that I would live with a bad back. My husband talked me into going next door to see if Doctor Bickmeyer could help me. I was told that he really didn’t do elbows but could check my back. Well, that was the start of our relationship. Doctor B took X rays and went over the findings with my husband and myself. It was advised that I had a lot of subluxations of my spine which was causing my pain. Doctor B started me out coming in three days a week with adjustments and therapy. He and his staff had great information about my problem, and I shouldn’t get down when I was hurting. I was faithful with all of my appointments and exercises that were given to me. I will share with you my progress. I’m able to keep up with my 7-year-old granddaughter and 2-year-old grandson. The 2-year-old has me crawling on the ground, going down slides at the park which I know now that I wouldn’t have been able to do if I hadn’t started with Dr. B.
I have more energy and it seems as though my stress level has fallen to a minimal level to nothing to all, I no longer live on anti-inflammatory medications like I used to. I will share my progress with family, my patients and friends when they ask. I do believe in chiropractic care more than ever now. I can’t wait to graduate by going in once a month, I see myself continuing with this care for a long time.
Thank you, Dr. Bickmeyer and staff!

Surprising Results for a Skeptic
On January 14th, 2003, I was in a car accident where I was struck from behind at about 65 mph. I was seen in the emergency room with the typical injuries of lower back pain, right shoulder pain, and whiplash. It was recommended to me to see a chiropractor and I was sent to Dr. Bickmeyer.
My first conversation started with, I hate chiropractors, but I need an appointment. I was amazed at how quickly relief came after just a few adjustments. I was seen three times a week for one month and I actually found myself looking forward to my visits. After my adjustments for my car accident, I still plan on doing a lifetime checkup of once a month. I truly was amazed at how well I felt overall, more energy, fewer headaches, and just overall feeling good about my body.
Sincerely,

Avoiding Surgery After Severe Spinal Injury
In the early 2000’s, I went to Dr. Bickmeyer because of this pain in my back. The doctor identified the problem and fixed it through adjustments and his program which I completed. In August 2008 I broke my back and several vertebrae. I am 6 foot six and years later developed back problems again. And thinking a chiropractor was out of the question since I broke my back, I did nothing except put up with the pain. Finally, the back pain was so bad I wanted to check all my options before having surgery again. I called RiverTowne Family Chiropractic and was seen by Dr. Bickmeyer the same day. I was told there was treatment they were able to do for me and began his program. My back was in phase two degeneration along with extremely painful pinched nerves in my arm where I could not feel my hand and fingers. After one week my back pain was completely gone and after one month my arm pain is gone and the feeling has returned to my hand and fingers. Chiropractic has fixed my back, my arm, and hand without any surgery. Dr. Bickmeyer has helped me so much I have referred a friend who has constant back pain and just puts up with it and misses out on activities.

Turning Back the Clock at 68
I am a returning patient; I was seeing Dr. Bickmeyer for treatment after a car accident that had happened 15 years ago. I later experienced an industrial accident years later that left me with a rod and pins in my left leg. My wife suggested that I see Dr. Bickmeyer to see if he could help me restore some of my mobility and make it easier for me to function daily and get around better period doctor Bickmeyer found several subluxation issues and has been working with me for about a year now to make needed corrections and start an exercise program. The doctor also has fitted me with a special shoe lift to get my pelvic area and hips aligned again. I have purchased a recumbent exercise bike and put 5 miles a day on it. I have logged over 1300 miles on it this past year and I forgot to mention that I turned 68 years old this past year. I believe his program has helped me turn back the clock on most of my health issues for about five years or more.

Renewed Hope After Severe Trauma
May 27, 2015 Going to Dr. Bickmeyer has saved my life! I was at the end of my line and didn’t even want to get out of bed in the morning. I have had several trauma injuries including a broken neck, broken sternum and a broken back. I am also in the last stages of arthritis and degenerative disc disease. I was unable to sleep through the night due to pain. Dr. Bickmeyer has a great bedside manner and genuinely cares about his patient’s health. He put me on a payment plan that I could afford. After just one adjustment from Dr. Bickmeyer I slept all night long and was able to get out of bed with 100% less pain. I am so much more relaxed now, I can actually breathe better. I’m walking my dog and going swimming on a regular basis! I had done everything but given up, I’m so happy I met Dr. Bickmeyer because it has changed my life! I love the atmosphere that the staff brings; they are very kind and helpful! God bless you all!

Recovering Mobility and the Joy of Activity
“I just don’t feel like my old self!” I have complained probably a hundred times over the past few years. I became a very early riser, as the longer I laid in bed, the more my back hurt. Activities I once so enjoyed, (home remodeling, furniture refinishing, etc.) had become painful, arduous tasks. Sadly, I was starting to believe that this is just what life after “50” is about. Then one morning I awoke to extreme, debilitating neck pain and could not move my head at all in any direction. Seeing the distress I was in, a friend suggested I visit RiverTowne Family Chiropractic. “At least see what they have to say.” She urged. Now, two months later, I am totally pain free and enjoy a range of motion I’ve not had since I was in my “20’s”. Sleeping-in on weekends is now a treat not a torture and I’ve resumed all my previous activities. So, I wholeheartedly urge anyone who is experiencing pain or mobility problems to visit the nice folks at RiverTowne Family Chiropractic. “At least see what they have to say!”

Improving Alignment and Daily Function
I heard about RiverTowne Family Chiropractic because Dr. Bickmeyer goes to my church. I’ve had bad back issues for almost 4 years now. I had previously gone to another chiropractic office who mostly concentrated on adhesion therapy. After some time with only doing that once a month I realized I needed a more intense treatment and something different. I came to Dr. B 2 ½ years ago. He did x-rays which is something my other doctor never did. He found that my spine was not in alignment, hips were kilter, and subluxations. Within the first month my neck and shoulder no longer hurt every day when I got up. I had a medical insurance exam for work and actually grew an inch because my neck was so compressed! Having chiropractic care has definitely improved my back although there is still more improvement to be had. I don’t think I could function on a day-to-day basis without it. I still have bad days but the good days outweigh the bad days. I will continue to care as long as I am able. I’ve shared with my family and friends in hopes that they will follow suit. Dr. B, Dr. Joel and the office staff care about your whole person not just your physical person and that means a lot!

A Better Outlook on Life at 71
Since seeing the Dr, I have no more headaches, neck pain, back pain, and I’m waking up without a limp.
I definitely have more energy and all the way around feel better, and as I’m told, have a better attitude (But that’s because the discomfort is gone).
At 71 years old I’m very grateful for such better health and attitude, and outlook on life. I plan on making chiropractic part of my lifestyle always.

Long-Term Care for the Whole Family
I have been a patient of Dr. Bickmeyer for over 13 years. When I first went to see Dr. B, I had just moved here from New York. I was in the care of another chiropractor there for neck and back problems.
Dr. B took right over – He has helped me so much with my back, neck, and even my sinus.
I have been able to get back to my walking, exercises, and even having tons of fun with my grandkids.
Dr. B is also seeing my husband Steve and grandson-Brendan.
We all look forward to our appointments and seeing all his friendly staff.
- Sincerely, Connie H.

Improved Energy and Health Management
One day in mid-June, my husband and I were walking through the Farmer Market in St. Charles. We stop at the table of RiverTowne Family Chiropractic and meet Dr. Joel. I was very desperate for help with my health. I am a patient of 1.) Congestive heart failure, 2.) Uncontrolled diabetes – using high doses of 2 types of insulin, 3.) osteoarthritis, and 4.) newly diagnosed with Sjogren.
I started up care and after 3 months of treatment with Dr. Bickmeyer and Dr. Joel, my health has greatly improved. I had to cut back 20 units of my insulin, the pain and swelling are better in the joints, and even my breathing is better with my CHF. I have more energy than I had in the last 5 years.
Chiropractic care has changed my life for the better. And will be a part of my health care for the rest of my life.
Thanks to the family/care team at RiverTowne Family Chiropractic.
